We use 6 x 20kg sand bags which are attached the the inflatables anchor points with D rings. Although sand bags are not legally required for indoor hires, it is good practice to as it helps to prevent the inflatables from moving out of posistion when in use.
The attendant, before operating the ride, must familiarize himself with the ride’s entrance/exit as well as escape hatches. In the unforeseeable event that power is interrupted and the ride begins to lose air, the Attendant should guide all the riders to calmly and orderly leave the ride via the entrance/exit.
Make sure there are no children inside or around the inflatable unit prior to turning the switch off and unplugging the blower.
We will not set up in the event of heavy rain or strong wind speeds including gusts over 24mph. We have the right to come and take down any inflatable during a party / event if we believe it to be unsafe. If strong winds arise after set up you should follow these rules / instructions;
1 - Remove all users intermediately from the inflatable equipment.
2 - Turn off the inflatable at the mains.
3 - Ensure the castle is free of any edges or items that may damage the inflatable whilst the deflation occurs.
4 - Ensure no one tries to enter or walk on top of the inflatable during the deflation process or once full deflated.
5 - Continuously assess the weather conditions using the anemometer provided.
6 - Once you have had no winds, including gusts over 24mph for 1 hour, you may switch the inflatable back on, ensuring no one uses the inflatable until its fully inflated and rigid.
7 - Once the inflatable is being used again, you must review the wind speed every 10-15 minutes for the remained of the hire period.
8 - Repeat this process if wind speeds increase again.
If you need any help or advice, we are always contactable via the contact details shown on the contact us page. IF IN DOUBT DO NOT CHANCE ERECTING THE CASTLE OR INFLATABLE.
What does the H/S law and BS EN 14960-13 regulations state about wind speeds?
The below points are to be remembered at all times to make sure users are safe
when on your inflatable. We advise that the below safety issues to be notified to
the hirer before it is left in their supervision: -
• Safe bouncing on the inflatable only no jumping/climbing on the walls or
arches
• Users are to remain at the front of the inflatable and shouldn’t be running
around the back as this could cause a trip hazard
• No horseplay / misuse including backflips and somersaults
• No user must be taller than the inside walls of the bouncy castle/inflatable
and no adults are allowed on children’s bouncy castles
• Adult supervision is required at all times
• Always make sure the item is securely anchored into the ground either
using pegs (if on grass) or sandbags (if on hardstanding ground or indoors)
along with suitable heavy-duty rope. Pegs, sandbags and rope should be
checked regularly throughout the hire to make sure they are still securely
in place and its strength, durability and condition aren’t compromised.
ALL anchors must be checked regularly throughout the hire to ensure they
haven’t come free, lose or ineffective during the hire.
• On any open side such as a step etc should have an impact area of at least
1.2m which means there should be safety matting in place on the impact
area
• Always keep up to date with your local weather to ensure the conditions
are safe for the hire (any winds over 24mph or heavy/consistent rain and
the hire should NOT proceed). If conditions change during a hire the users
must come off the inflatable and then be deflated and covered with a
groundsheet until the weather allows for it to proceed again. Remember to
carry out the relevant safety checks again before allowing users back onto
the inflatable. Remember you shouldn’t rely on weather apps to check the
wind speeds you should use a Anemometer.
• Always remember that the funnels are clearly labelled and the deflation
funnel should remain tied shut at all times whilst in use as leaving it open
can cause loss of pressure/deflation. The fan is to be connected to the
inflation funnel and the deflation funnel is only loosened when all the users
are off the inflatable and you are deflating/packing away. The same applies
if you choose to have a zip instead of a deflation funnel.
We will not set up in the event of foretasted heavy rain for prolong periods of time, decisions will be made within 24 hours of your hire start time or the morning of your event (if outside) by 9:30am / (09:30).
What will be considered when deciding to cancel or go ahead with the booking due to rain?
1 - We will look at the actual hire times you have selected. Rockin Ronnies may have to reduce your hire times closer to your actual party start / finish times to ensure the hire can be completed, if safe to do so.
2 - What equipment have you hired, does it have a rain cover and can it be damaged from excessive water?. crazy4bbouncing may have to change your equipment to better suit the weather conditions, you will be contacted before your big day / party to discuss options.
3 - The age and ability of the users.
4 - Your willingness to listen to advice and instructions as well as your competence to abide by the rules / instructions put in place for the users safety.
5 - Is there safe anchorage conditions, if the soil is to wet the pegs will not hold the inflatable down in a secure fashion required by H&S and the BS EN 14960-13 regulations.
6 - Access to the venue or erection site.
7 - Is it safe for our trained staff to work in the conditions.
Are there any regulations on wet weather use?
No, although we have best practice and recommend safety guidelines to follow.
If strong rain occurs after set up you should follow these rules / instructions;
8 - Remove all users intermediately from the inflatable equipment. If you have soft play, move it indoors or place tarpaulin over it to keep it dry.
9 - Never turn off the inflatable in rainy conditions, its harder to dry once turned off and deflated.
10 - Ensure the castle is free objects that may stain or re colour the inflatable when wet. (This includes clothes, paint or dye based products, leaves and grass).
11 - Ensure no one tries to enter or walk / jump on the inflatable while its wet.
12 - Continuously assess the weather conditions.
13 - Once you have had no rain for 1 hour, An adult must dry the entrance / exit and bounce area with a towel and ensure its not slippery before users re-enter the inflatable. (Please note, no 'bubbles' should be seen on the castle, if you can see bubbles it is still to 'wet' to use). Continue the drying process with a towel until the inflatable is bubble free.
14 - Once the inflatable is being used again, you must review the bounce bed, entrance and exit every 10-15 minutes for the remained of the hire period.
Repeat this process if it starts to rain again.
If you need any help or advice, we are always contactable via the contact details shown on the contact us page.
